Windows 7 64-bit: spaces in PATH inhibit package listing

#1

As a Windows user, I cannot avoid to have spaces in Path, e.g. “Program Files (x86)”. There is never a problem because these paths get quoted.

Atom doesn’t seem to handle them though. The error message below appear when trying to list packages. The path “Program Files\something” which is perfectly in quotation marks (I triple checked everything in the PATH) gets cut off after “Program”:

“\Vagrant\bin”;“C:\phantomjs-2.1.1-windows\bin”;“C:\Program” kann syntaktisch an dieser Stelle nicht verarbeitet werden.

What can I do?

#2

It appears that this problem exists in atom 1.10.2.
In 1.8.0 everything works.

BTW, it is creepy to have a program update without showing any alert about it. Maybe display a notice?

An indicator is shown when an update is available, a squirrel on the right-hand side of your status bar:

We don’t pop up an alert because we find most people believe that alerts are annoying. It is a deliberate design choice that we made.
