Will I hurt anything if I disable encoding-selector package?

I’m new to using Atom. I’m currently looking through the core packages and disabling all those that I don’t use. Partly this is to enhance start-up time, and partly this is to decrease clutter so that I can learn to use the parts of Atom I need with less clutter.

To that end, I’m curious about whether I’ll mess anything up by disabling the encoding-selector package. I’ve never had a need to change text encoding before. Will the encoding stick to a default UTF-8 if the package is disabled? Or might there be other downsides to disabling this package?

No downsides as long as all your files are UTF-8.
