Why does atom only show invisibles at the start and end of line?

I can’t be the only person who has to work with legacy or other people’s code that contains a mixture of tabs and spaces? I can see some people might want the option to only show it as it is, but wouldn’t it be fairly trivial to allow all invisibles to be shown?

I did some searching and there appears to have been a package in the past called ‘atom-innerspace’ but I can’t find any trace of it now.

[EDIT] - I’ve found a github repo for ‘atom-innerspace’, but the project seems to have been abandoned due to unfixable changes in atom.
