What Kind of License is Atom Using?

#1

Hello,

I was thinking of forking Atom.IO. However, the license is not what I was expecting. From what I can tell, it is a proprietary license. It is not a common MIT/Apache style license. This concerns me. Why not just use a familiar license? What are the pitfalls of this non-standard license?

It seems to be the MIT License:
http://opensource.org/licenses/MIT

I’ve only eyeballed it, though. Is there a subtle difference that I missed?

It is the MIT license, the text is identical.

As @kgrossjo and @postcasio have pointed out, it is the MIT license. Here is the blog post where they open-sourced Atom Core:

Before that blog post though, everything but Atom Core was already MIT licensed.
