Updating packages when dependencies change

#1

Is it common practice to push an update to a package if the only change is an important change to a dependency?

The way it is specified in my package, new installs will get the updated dependency but current installs won’t as far as I can tell - meaning, Atom doesn’t do this by default. So the user would need to run apm update manually.

So the user would need to run apm update manually.

Personally, I would never want the user to update a dependency because it could break the package.

If it is an “important” change like for a security vulnerability or some such, I would say yes.
