Update script for debian/ubuntu

Hi folks,

I have created a bash script for debian to keep atom up to date. It’s been working for the last few weeks for me, so I thought it might be worth sharing. It uses the github api (using jq) to determine the most recent version and downloads the appropriate .deb file. A --beta flag can be provided to maintain atom-beta instead.

I like it. Do you want tips for how to wrap that into a package that checks whenever you open Atom?

I’m happy you like it. Personally, I don’t need an atom package for checking updates, since I have wrapped everything in an update.sh script that does apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade, cargo update, atom-update.sh … on my machine.
