Unable to open files in git projects

#1

Hi,

I have a weird problem with atom and i was wondering if you could help me diagnose it
I’m on Fedora 28 with atom 1.32.2 and when i have a window opened in a versioned (git) folder, after something like ~30s i can not open any new files.
Neither by clicking in the sidebar or typing ctrl-P or ctrl-O.
When the window is opened in a folder without a .git it works as expected.
I tried in with --safe, --clear-window-state and i removed my ~/.atom and there is nothing in the dev console.
I also tried with 1.33.0-beta2 and the same happens.
My git binary seems fine as i can use it in the command line and even the git side panel of atom works as expected.

Do you have an idea of how i could debug this ?

atom --version
Atom : 1.32.2
Electron: 2.0.9
Chrome : 61.0.3163.100
Node : 8.9.3

git --version

lsb_release -a
LSB Version:	:core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarch
Distributor ID:	Fedora

Don’t think I’ve seen that before - a few questions for you:

  • Is this behavior new for you as of 1.32.2?
  • When you try to open a file by double clicking it in the tree view, nothing happens or do you get an error?
  • Can you reproduce with any Git project?
  • Did you install Atom using one of the official installation methods?

He rsese,

The issue disappeared a day or two after my message but re-appeard today, it’s really strange…

Is this behavior new for you as of 1.32.2?

I don’t know, it’s the fist installation of atom that i have in this laptop

When you try to open a file by double clicking it in the tree view, nothing happens or do you get an error?

Nothing happens (nothing in the UI, nothing in the console)

Can you reproduce with any Git project?

Yes

Did you install Atom using one of the official installation methods

Yes, by downloading the .rpm on the homepage and then dnf install ./path/to/the/rpm

Update: i upgraded atom to 1.33.0 and atom-beta to 1.34.0-beta0 and the problem is still there.

Just to clarify this point a bit more, if you create a test Git repo with a single file, can you reproduce still?

Can you open a file with File > Openor does that also not work?

Lastly, are these GIt projects on your local computer or are you accessing them on a network drive/share?
