Texts glow when highlighting

When I do control-F to search for something, the found text glows for a split second. However, when I close the search box and highlight some random text, the highlighted text also glows for a split second. I recorded a gif of it.

This could actually be a pretty cool feature, but I don’t like it when it is just an accident. Is there anyway to fix it?

EDIT: The glowing red and white texts are intentional, just to be clear.

That must be due to some package. To see for sure run atom --safe.

I tried it again with atom --safe, the same thing happens, but this time with a white glow.

I’ll see if I can find which package could be causing this.

What do you have in your styles.less?

@-webkit-keyframes pulsate {
	from {
		color: white;
	to {
		color: #f33;
.comment {
	font-style: normal;
	-webkit-animation: pulsate 1s infinite alternate;

.editor.is-focused .selection .region {
	background-color: #00695C;

just these three things.

I actually noticed that Shadow DOM was disabled in my settings, and when I re-enabled it, the problem went away. However, my stylesheet isn’t working now. Is there a way to fix that?

Animations aren’t supported well across the Shadow DOM boundary. See the Issue here:

There is probably something that is bleeding across the boundary where the Shadow DOM is supposed to be when you disable it. That’s why we set it up this way in the first place.
