Substitute Native OSX Fullscreen With A Fast Solution

OS X has a super slow animation when switching an app over to fullscreen. Personally I find it so slow that it’s killing it entirely for me.

Sublime Text, iTerm and a few others have worked around this annoyance: e.g. in Sublime, I can press ⌘K``⌘F and BAM! I’m all fullscreen in just a snap.

Can we ditch OS X default behavior with a working (well, less slow) solution? Besides effectiveness, it also cures motion sickness for some of us.
