Safely Remove Atom Beta

I currently have two versions of Atom( one is a beta version) running on Ubuntu 16.04. I want to remove the beta version without messing up the stable version. Do these two packages share dependencies? How can I remove the beta version without loosing the settings for the stable version. Thanks for the help

All settings are stored in the .atom folder in your user directory, and all dependencies are stored in the application folder. You can safely delete the beta folder.

I used apt-get purge atom-beta and it seems to have worked.

Thank You!
