Running atom on windows from command line, cannot redirect stdout

I’m trying to start atom (from binary zip file, v0.1117.0) on Windows 7 from a command line, both in cmd.exe and a Cygwin bash. However atom “pollutes” the command line with a few log messages such as

App load time: 171ms
[11008:0725/] Renderer process started
[6908:0725/154309:INFO:CONSOLE(18)] “Window load time: 2278ms”, source: c:\Progr…

Weirdly, I cannot redirect the Standard Output and Error to /dev/null. Neither

C:>“c:\Program Files\Atom\atom.exe” test.txt > nul 2> nul

in a cmd.exe, nor

$ /cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Atom/atom.exe test.txt 2>/dev/null >/dev/null

in Cygwin will get rid of the messages in the terminal. (Actually, in the Cygwin case, the first line “App load time” is missing).

Is there any way to avoid this “pollution” of the terminal? (Using the -l logfile.log option doesn’t remove them either.)

Maybe not a sufficient solution, but I managed to get rid of the gunk if I start Atom from Powershell, like so:
Invoke-WmiMethod -Class Win32_Process -Name Create -ArgumentList

I haven’t done anything to mess with Atom or how the process runs. I just use atom . and it opens a window and bumps that terminal back to the prompt. It has always just worked for me.
