Replace multiple occurrences of a string by selecting and typing

I’ve noticed that Atom automatically highlights all occurrences of a string in a file if I select one of these. This hinted me that it might be possible to replace all these occurrences on the fly, by hitting a special key combination and then start typing. I’ve seen this kind of feature in many Sublime videos. However, I could not find out what this magic key combination might be? Or is the auto-highlight just for the sake of information? Such a feature would be great for refactoring.

You can make multiple selections and then start typing normally and the text in every selection will be overwritten simultaneously.
