Override or extend scope of a snippet?

(I’m not sure if this has been asked before, my search didn’t come up with any results.)

I have several snippet packages and a common user request is to extend it to work with a certain file type. Well, people are different and not everybody wants the same features. For one person it might make sense to have a package of HTML snippets to work in JSX or even plain JavaScript, for the next person it might be highly annoying. If there’s a good reason to extend the scope, I’ll consider changing my snippets, but in many cases these are niche scenarios I don’t necessarily want to serve.

So, I was wondering if there’s a way that a user can override the default scope given in a snippet file without editing it, e.g. through config.cson or a third-party package.

No, there currently is no way to make a snippet cover a new scope without editing it.
