Open up a file in directory from Terminal

Whenever I type atom /code/progcode/ or whatever–it just opens up atom with a new file called in the respective directory. However, I already have the file “” created.
If I cd /code/progcode/ into the folder, then type atom, it opens the file for editing. I can’t seem to open files in directories unless I am already in the correct directory.

I’m running atom on Linux Mint 17–I compiled it myself.

Have a look at this:

It may not directly but a similar question was asked there:

Might be best to wait until this is officially included in the next release, but if you want you can clone and build the branch before it’s merged.

Awesome! I’ll wait until it’s included. I appreciate the quick reply!
