LOng files --> extreme slow reaction from Atom

#1

Hi,

Using Atom_1.22.1 on an Ubuntu_16.04 machine.
When I have a folder open and editing a large file in that folder Atom becomes very slow.
A large file is a file with more than 4000 line of code.
Very slow is: Atom starts reacting very slow to input from the keyboard.
Entering text can take up to seconds before something happens on screen.

Anybody seen this behaviour?
Hints to solve it?

Thanks,

Marc

Hi,

Indeed there are a lot of topics on this matter.
I lost the wood for the trees.
Lots of possible solutions too and lots of stuff how to investigate what can go wrong.
Already tried out some of these things, without success, before posting the message.
Seems there are no real solutions to the issues of working with large folders and files.

Some solutions suggest to use ATOM versions that are not even available (like version 1.33 or even 1.4).
How can I try these out? Where can those be downloaded form?

Thanks,

Marc

Those are old versions from very old posts. The point is that Atom’s support for big files has always been sketchy, but has been improving, so updating Atom to the most recent version is one of the initial recommendations.
