Live Reload crashed Atom

#1

Bare in mind that I am a complete noob and just started using Atom.

I downloaded Atom today and I wanted to play around on it to get familiar with the UI and install a few packages and themes etc.

I didn’t really like any of the syntax themes that I’ve installed so I wanted to create my own so I headed over to the Atom hacking page where it says how this can be done. One of the step is to reload the Atom using CMD+ALT+CTRL+L and I did that but it pretty much broke it. Now all I see is a white screen with the dev tools. I can’t see the editor, can’t use any of the shortcuts and don’t even see the options. I’m using a Mac on El Capitan. The only options I see are “Check for updates, Reload, Close Window, Toggle Dev Tools, Quit”.

I’ve reinstalled Atom several times but it doesn’t work. Every time I open it, a blank, white window of Atom pops up with dev tools open on the right side. I’ve even cleared Atom cache.

Have you tried using Safe Mode? It will launch Atom without community packages or themes.

To launch Safe Mode:

  1. Completely exit all instances of Atom
  2. Launch Atom with the command atom --safe
