Is Atom built on node-webkit?


Is Atom built on node-webkit or something else?


It is node.js plus a custom-made Chromium, but not Intel’s particular mix of it; the /Applications/ configuration has no window key.

Why are Webkit dev tools included inside of Atom?

Thank you for the insight. I wonder if they will release the custom shell and how they differ from node-webkit or brackets-shell.


In this podcast it was said that Github does plan to release the custom shell at some point. Can’t wait to see it. node-webkit is really awesome, but there are a lot of bugs that make my life hard, so I’d be happy to have an alternative that I could switch to in a worst case scenario.
