Installing the Atom Helper through Terminal on Mac

#1

I’m pushing Atom out to a few client workstations (OS X El Capitan) and I am having an issue with Atom asking to install the Helper Tool.

Since it requires administrative access to install, is there a way that I can install the helper tool through the command line. I’ve tinkered around and read through the documentation but I haven’t found a way to do so.

Sure – it’s just a symlink:

ln -s /Applications/Atom.app/Contents/Resources/app/atom.sh /usr/local/bin/atom

usr/local/bin may be specific to homebrew, so you may have to adjust to anything else in $PATH.
