I can't run Atom on Manjaro linux

#1

Hello. As in the topic I have problem with running Atom. I tried reinstalling Atom.
When I try to run it through console the output is following:

/usr/bin/atom: line 57: 5924 Aborted (core dumped) nohup “ATOM_PATH" --executed-from="(pwd)” --pid=$$ “$@” > “$ATOM_HOME/nohup.out” 2>&1
FATAL: error reading `/proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled’ in libgcrypt: Invalid argument

The same sittuation is with Electron.

What version of glibc do you have? If it’s all Electron applications having trouble, maybe you’re hitting this issue?

I solved problem by upgrading linux kernel from 4.4 to 4.14.

Downgrading glibc seems like a bad idea - it is used as a dependency in many programs. Maybe downgrading Atom could be better idea if changing kernel doesn’t works.

Thanks for answer, have a good day.

I’ve had very good results using the atom-editor-bin package from AUR. It works and it generally gets updated faster than the atom package from the main repository.
