How to switch between projects?

#1

I would expect something like the following should be possible:

  1. Close Project A
  2. Open Project B
  3. Work

But when I try that, usually the following happens:

  1. Close the project window I’m working on (Project A)
  2. Go to File>Projects>[Name of my previously opened project B]
  3. Wonder why nothing happens
  4. Go to File>New Window
  5. Go to File>Projects>[Name of my previously opened project B]
  6. Work.

Because I always feel a bit silly at step 3, when I think of it, I do this now:

  1. Go to File>Projects>[Name of my previously opened project B]
  2. CTRL+Tab to switch windows
  3. Look up the keyboard shortcut to switch windows, which is CMD+`
  4. Go to Project A’s window
  5. Close Project A
  6. Work

Which isn’t really an improvement. What am I doing wrong?

You could install project-viewer and switch projects with one click.

Thanks, that seems like good advice! What is the one click though? I can toggle the switcher on and off with ctrl shift option V and then click, but I wouldn’t like to keep the panel open all the time.

The one click is clicking on the name in the panel. If you don’t like it, then you can keep it hidden and switch in three steps, which is better than the five steps of closing and opening windows.

You could also try project-manager. It creates a dropdown.
