How to open and watch a local repositories using Atom

I have a couple local repositories on my machine that are being watched by the tower app currently.

I’d like to start using Atom’s git integration if i could to do my version control, the less apps I have to use the better. How do I initially set up atom to watch those repositories? Currently each repository has one new commit that I have to pull from the remote but I’m not seeing it in atom I’m sure the answer is staring me in the face.

If you open a Git repository in Atom, then you can use the GitHub: Toggle Git Tab to show the Git panel where you can stage and commit your work. There are arrows in the status bar for pushing/pulling as described here:
