How to edit or change existing atom packages?

#1

Hi, I am Atom starter who is currently trying to tour around the ‘hackable’ features of the Atom editor. Especially, editing existing packages. Can anyone help me how to do it with step by step guide?? I have seen the documentation of atom but when I tried to edit others’ packages to my taste, it doesn’t work and I don’t know where to start.
Thanks

You edit packages by cloning the package’s GitHub repository. You can tell Atom how to find a package you have on your computer by using the command line instructions apm link or apm link -d (for developer mode) to create a symbolic link inside the respective package folder in .atom/. APM also includes an apm develop command, which will take care of the intermediate steps and which you can use even if you don’t know how to use git yet.
