How to change color showing git status?

On the left for my project is a list of files in the directory, color coded by git status. Files that I have created with the editor but not yet tracked by git are in green. Green, to me, symbolizes “good”. When a submarine is diving they look for green lights to show all the hatches are closed.

Unfortunately with git, green is bad. It means my files are not part of the repository.

I’d like to change the default color. I can’t figure out how to do so. I’ve tried a dozen or so variations I’ve found by doing searches that seem related to doing this, such as at Where are the built-in “git” sidebar tree colors defined?

Nothing seems to work. I have the notion that I need to change styles.less to do what I want.

Can someone tell me what I need to put into styles.less to change the color of files that are not part of the git repository from green to something like red?
