I am coming from Vim/Sublime Text so difference in responsiveness between Sublime and an Electron based editor is noticeable. So I personally prefer Atom over VS Code (for many reasons) but VS Code is a little snappier in comparison.
I am a new developer and would like to contribute to Atom and help make it as performant as VS Code so nobody can complain about Atom being “slow”. On my laptop both editors are relatively the same, but VS Code still has the edge (which may be more pronounced on older hardware).
Can someone with knowledge on the differences between VS Code and Atom explain why VS Code seems to be more performant even though both editors are based on Electron? What should I start working on to help make Atom a faster application?
Xray appears to be on hold and possibly Memo too?
