Help moving from vim to atom: regex & external command

#1

Hi, I’m trying to move from vim to atom, and have 2 questions:

  1. Regex. In vim I can search for one or other character using “a|b” and replace all occurrences with x. The “or” sign doesn’t seem to work in atom. What am I doing wrong?

  2. Is it possible to run an external command like vim lets you do “!multimarkdown & | pbcopy” to convert markdown to html and place it in the clipboard? Thanks.

\ is an escape character, so that regex will search for the literal string “a|b”. You need to remove the escape character for it to work.

Is it possible to run an external command

Yes, using packages like script, process-palette, or termination.

Has worked well for me.
