Disable self-fulfilling modal warning at start about Atom being unresponsive?

I use a lot of Atom windows, so when I launch atom, it takes a little while to start, and I’m fine with it. Atom, though, isn’t, so each and every window issues a modal warning, telling me that Atom isn’t responding. Please note that the windows seem to stop doing any work whatsoever while the modal dialog is open, so that in the end the warning is actually true, Atom isn’t responding, because it’s too busy telling me that it isn’t responding.

Can this dialog be disabled? If Atom actually stops responding for good, I guess I’ll find out, sooner or later.

To my knowledge it is not possible to disable this dialog but there is work being done to make the dialog better. We have https://github.com/atom/atom/pull/11581 to stop blocking Atom when this dialog is open. https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/5577 to be able to cancel the dialog if Atom becomes responsive again. And https://github.com/atom/atom/pull/12750 to improve the texts and not force close Atom when canceling the dialog.

Thank you, that’s great news.

I should note that this is not something that is being actively worked on, sorry if that was unclear in my first post. The PR for not blocking Atom has been inactive for quite a while now.

@Wliu What happened to that PR? Even if we can’t cancel the dialog it is still an improvement over the current behavior of blocking Atom.

Shortly after I created that PR I migrated to a much faster laptop, so I almost never experience the “Keep Waiting” dialog anymore under normal circumstances. Really all it needs is for someone to review it though.
