Clicking mouse doesn't move cursor to nearest tab

#1

I’ve noticed that if I have a number of tab characters in a row, such as at the beginning of PHP code that is indented, clicking the mouse in that empty space does not always move the cursor to the nearest tab character.

It’s strange.

If I click near the very beginning of the line, the cursor moves to the position of first tab over. If I click more to the right, almost up to that first tab character, the cursor moves to the very beginning of the line.

The place this becomes a little frustrating is when I’m trying to move the cursor to the very beginning of the line, to play around with some whole lines of code. I have click within three pixels of the beginning of the line to get the cursor there. It would be very convenient if I could instead click anywhere within a half-tab of the beginning of the line.

Is this a bug, a feature, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.
