Can't write in editor

#1

Hi,

I install Atom on a mac. (10.9), spanish keyboard.
I open, i can show files, but in editor, only run the next keys:

  • intro
  • tab
  • up / down / left / right.

I tried to enable/disable “react editor”. Same problem.
I tried to write with mouse, right button: autocomplete. But is bad.

How i type “public void someMethod(){}” in a file?

Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying you are unable to type anything into the editor?
That, when you press a character on the keyboard, it does not show up?

Are you saying you are unable to type anything into the editor?
Yes. Any character not show up.
That, when you press a character on the keyboard, it does not show up?
Yes, not show up. Only: return, tab, up/down/left/right.

Thanks you.

Can you try starting Atom in safe mode: atom --safe, and tell us if that allows you to type into the editor?

Also, are there any errors in the Developer tools console when you type?

#5

I restart and it´s OK. I am typing and watching all i type.
I leave my system log:

Thanks for your help.
The issue is closed.

i’m having this too.
atom --safe works

#7

uninstalling this package made it work for me:
atom-autocomplete-plus-async

#8

FWIW, I also get that with autocomplete-plus (which autocomplete-plus-async is a fork).

For anyone else having this issue, perhaps try the following solution: I was having this same issue where I was not able to type any text into the editor at all and finally narrowed it down to the synced-sidebar 0.4.3 package (in Atom 1.22.1 on macOS Sierra 10.12.6). Disabling this package solved the issue and I haven’t had it happen again.
