Can't find new version of atom - Windows 10

I had 1.18 installed because the last rollout was screwy for me. I just downloaded the latest ver, launched it once and it was working well. I’d like to use this version, but I can’t find the new shortcut to add to my taskbar etc. where does it live? (I’m on win10)

Apparently something’s screwy with the installer for Windows 10. See this post for a link to the issue and workaround:

this is a nightmare. what’s the simplest way to do a clean uninstall and reinstall?

v1.18 lives on in my files somewhere and I just want it all consolidated.

You can always delete the AppData/Local/atom folder. That’s usually not necessary.

What leads you to believe this?

Because Atom isn’t in my CP as an app but I’m using 1.18 right now to edit. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What folders do you see in AppData/Local/atom?

I see .dead and Update files

so I delete my atom folders in both appdata/local and program files?

Atom doesn’t install anything into Program Files. If there’s something there, it wasn’t put there by the default Windows installer.

I definitely didn’t manually do it.

I also may or may not have just installed sublime…
