C++ Compiler Error (fatal error: iostream)

#1

So, the elephant in the room, let’s just get rid of that guy, i’m new.

I have read through several posts about getting the C++ system working in atom. By system I mean getting MinGW and gpp-compiler installed correctly. I added my path in cmd for the compiler and everything else that was stated to be done.

Everything shows up fine now and I get the option to “Compile and Run” but i’m getting this error now and I’m not quite sure what i’m doing wrong. Is it that there is no “database” in Atom like there would be in a full IDE like Visual Studio?

The full error message is: C:\Users*********\helloWorld.c:1:20: fatal error: iostream: No such file or directory
compilation terminated. I saved the file as “helloWorld.c” , not sure if that is the problem as I have seen other C++ files saved as “.cpp”

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What happens if you navigate to that directory on the command line and run g++ helloWorld.c?
