Bracket matcher not highlighting brackets but highlights html elements

I’m new to Atom and I’ve been banging my head for the past hour on this.

Issue description:

When I select a bracket/quotation mark in a file, it does not select it’s match and pressing ctrl+m does not toggle the selection to the match.

See example:

However, If I access a html file and click on a tag, it automatically selects the matching tag.

See example:

These are my settings on the bracket-mattcher, I have not edited any files of the package manually:

Things I’ve tried:

  • I ran atom with atom --safe and the same issue persists.

  • I tried turning ‘Autocomplete Brackets’ from the bracket-matcher menu on and off.

  • I installed several other highlighter packages such as atom-brackets-glow and atom-bracket-highlight, those did not work either

  • I’ve disabled the bracket-matcher package and restarted Atom several times.

  • Googled various similar issues but couldn’t find a fix.

Any help would be appreciated.

Since I can’t seem to edit the original post:

System Information:
Atom : 1.25.0
Electron: 1.7.11
Chrome : 58.0.3029.110
Node : 7.9.0

OS: Mac OS 10.11.6 El Capitan

I’ve also fixed the one bug I had and that didn’t solve the issue. Turned off all my custom packages manually as well and it didn’t fix it either.

Bracket matcher isn’t meant to match quotation marks. It does have special rules for HTML tags though.

Is the bracket within a string? It will only match brackets that are not in strings.

This is correct. I experience the same behavior. However, if I don’t select the bracket, and just have the cursor next to the bracket, ctrl-m does switch me to the matching bracket.

I’m having the exact same problem. ctrl-m does not seem to work either

What do you see in the Keybinding Resolver (ctrl-.) when you try?
