Auto bracketing within string

I am new to this forum and am using Atom on OSX and Ubuntu 14.04.

It works nice, but I have one problem with the Auto bracketing.

When I change a string

$array["ab" . $extra . "cd"]

then I have to enter one quote after the ‘b’ and then the auto quotes is not welcome. Can this be made that auto backets only works when the character after the cursor is whitespace only, so when entering a brac(k)e(t) or quote before a nonspace autocomplete will not be triggered ?

The auto quote is useful here, because you can stick the cursor between “b” and “c” and you’ll get two quotes with the cursor in the right place to type in the middle bit.
