Atom windows shows up without decorations or ability to resize, regardless if from deb or src

#1

Hello, regardless of whether it is built from source or installed via .deb, the Atom editor window has no window decorations (it can’t be resized and has sharp edges just above File Edit View…) It looks a lot similar to a time when I was using the nouveau driver instead of the nvidia driver for a different linux version once.

My laptop is a Debian 9 and I had no noticeable errors on building it or when I installed the .deb. My kernel is 4.9.0-4-amd64 and I can’t think of anything else to say… All prerequisites were up to date too.

Thanks for any advice, help, etc.

Uggg. hit return too soon… calling it from terminal says

X@X:~/SW/Atom/atom/script$ …/…/HERE/share/atom/atom --version
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "gail"
Atom : 1.24.0-dev-6576d26b6
Electron: 1.6.15
Chrome : 56.0.2924.87
Node : 7.4.0

I take it it is a gtk related problem…

Installed libgail and libgail-common - didn’t see it in the prereq… error message (above) went away but problem remains.
