Atom very slow after Ubuntu upgrade to 14.10

#1

Hi everybody,
i just upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit to 14.10 64 bit and now Atom is very slow even in scrolling the window or moving cursor; cpu gets up to 100% during those operations.
I’m building Atom from sources, tried to pull them and build again but nothing changed.
Is there something i can do to try some profiling?

Thanks
S

try running Atom on a clean Ubuntu 14.10 install (upgrades can sometimes go wrong)

#3

Hi, I have the same issue. After the upgrade to 14.10, atom is very slow when i scroll the window.

#4

Brackets also have the problems.

This discussion resolved my issue : https://github.com/adobe/brackets/issues/9750.
I installed :

sudo apt-get install fglrx-core
sudo apt-get install fglrx

and atom works well.

Finally, it is not better, i always have the issue despite fglrx-core, fglrx.
On a fresh install of ubuntu 14.10, I still have the problem.

#6

Have you followed the suggestions in the Debugging document? Also, could you give the following information?

  • Which version of Atom are you using?
  • Can you reproduce the issue after completely exiting Atom and restarting using atom --safe?

#7

I use the latest version of Atom. (0.150)
I reproduce the issue when I launch Atom with option --safe and i followed the suggestions but it 's not better.

Eventually i found a solution, at least it should work for intel HD graphics, installing drivers from:
https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers
and setting env variable:
LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib/dri-alternates

did the trick, now Atom is fluid as usual.
