Atom slowing down

#1

I’ve been using Atom for over a year now and love it.

Recently, it has begun to slow down while editing. Every time I type a key, it takes about 100 to 200 ms to appear.

I have upgraded to the latest. 1.6.1 but it still is running slow. I have attempted to uninstall several packages but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m running 1.6.1 on a Macbook Pro running the latest release of El Capitan. I don’t notice anything else being slow.

Can you replicate the issue in Safe Mode? To launch Safe Mode:

  1. Completely exit all instances of Atom
  2. Launch Atom with the command atom --safe

@leedohm, Thanks for your help.

Yes, it does the same thing in safe mode.

I’m going to uninstall atom and remove it’s data folder, and reinstall it to see if that works.

Don’t mean to necro this thread, but did you ever solve this? I’ve always had performance problems with Atom, but at least it worked. Recently it’s started slowing down so much that I’m considering switching back to Sublime. But I don’t want to. :confused:
