Atom saving ability

I am having a major problem with Atom on my computer the save function cuts out completely after a period of time after installing it. What happens is when I save my file Atom registers the file being saved however the contents of the file was not updated when saved. For example I was writing PHP and I forgot a semicolon. I went into Atom and put it in and saved it however if I open it in another text editor such as Brackets the semicolon was missing. I want to know if there is a way to fix this or even if this is happening to others.

Does this problem still happen when you start Atom from the command line with atom --safe?

I’ve never used commands for using Atom

If on Windows:

  1. Press the Start button.
  2. Type cmd.exe and wait for either cmd.exe or Command Prompt to show up, and then click on it.
  3. Enter atom --safe.

If on Mac:

  1. Open up the Terminal
  2. Enter atom --safe.

If on Linux:

  1. Open up your distribution’s terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T on Ubuntu).
  2. Enter atom --safe.

The point to start Atom with --safe flag is to rule out any third-party packages messing up your code. Using the flag, Atom will not load any packages.

Thanks for the help I’ll see how I go and see if the saving stays functional
