I used to have a git submodule in my project. I have now deleted it including the submodule’s .git directory. I have also deleted the .gitmodules file which is at the top level of my project. However, when I return to Atom, the file reappears containing the information about the deleted submodule. Is this expected behaviour? How can I tell Atom that I really want to delete this submodule?
Never mind! I believe the issue was because I had the file open and was deleting it from outside of Atom. Perhaps for some reason Atom was saving that file after I had deleted it. In any case it appears to be gone forever now.
