Atom presents blank screen after update of linter-ui package

I’m running atom on Mac OS – I noticed there were some package updates, so I chose to update them all. It asked to restart so I restarted. When it came back up, it said the linter-ui package could be updated. So I chose to update that and again it asked to restart, so I did. But now it comes up with a blank background and won’t show the panes (like file pane, editor, etc.)

How can I fix this?

$atom --version
Atom : 1.17.2
Electron: 1.3.15
Chrome : 52.0.2743.82
Node : 6.5.0

Running atom --safe does not resolve the issue.

What happens when you start Atom from the command line with atom --safe?

Same thing – UI is blank. This is what I’m seeing:

Tried this: mv ~/.atom ~/.atom-backup – then restarted. Same thing.

Ok, after mv ~/.atom ~/.atom-backup and then running safe mode atom --safe I finally got a UI again.

I opened my project, it asked if I wanted to discard saved state, and I did so.

Does this mean I have to re-install all my packages, or should I try to move the .atom folder back?

You can try to move just .atom/packages back, along with the config files.
