Atom on macOS unable to open external (quarantined) file from Finder

Hello,

I noticed, that if I try to open file from external source (with com.apple.quarantine attribute) directly from Finder, Atom (previously closed) is starting, top menu appears, but window is not created. At the same time I can successfully open such file from terminal (atom FILE), or from Atom menu (window open or window closed - main condition is app not terminated). If I try to save such file from Atom, quarantine attribute persists.

Because of that, I have to manually clear quarantine attribute from every file I try to open, which is not convenient.

Is this an intentional behavior, or it can be fixed somehow?

Atom is not terminated, and not closed:

  • able to open quarantined file from Finder
  • able to open quarantined file from Atom menu
  • able to open quarantined file from CLI

Atom is not terminated and closed:

  • able to open quarantined file from Finder
  • able to open quarantined file from CLI

Atom is terminated:

  • unable to open quarantined file from Finder
  • able to open quarantined file from CLI
