Atom on Linux Ctrl+O opens file picker in "Recently Used" mode, rather then in project root

Hi,

I’m running Atom 1.5.3 on Ubuntu Linux 15.10. I open atom by navigating to a folder that contains a project I want to hack on, and typing atom . in the command line.

Everything works great, except that when I type Ctrl+o, atom opens a file picker dialog in ‘Recently Used’ mode, which is pretty useless. I believe it’s supposed to open at the root of the project, which would be sensible, but for some reason that’s not working for me.

Does anyone know what I can do to debug this issue? I’m mostly working around it using the fuzzy-finder, but opening the occasional document outside the project tree is really painful due to this issue.

Thanks,
