Atom Minibuffer

A lot of packages use some custom scrolling text area for output. Be it to display the output from a run of gcc or to show test results. It would be nice to have a consistent place to put all this kind of output, so styling it can be consistent.

I’m using the term minibuffer, inspired by emacs, but depending on how this would look that name may not make sense.

You should be able to use a TextEditor for this purpose wherever you like in Atom’s UI. I’m not sure how easy it is to do this right now, but that is the intent.

I guess this is more of a point about usage rather than the technicals of what the construct is. Ideally there would be some uniform way to show outputs from automated tasks. This output would be terminal-like, and consistent across packages.
