Atom is stuck at startup

I had Atom open with a lot of file tabs open. I exited Atom. Now upon startup it is hung, and will not start at all!!!

Can you tell me where Atom is saving the list of open files so that I can delete it? I removed Atom and reinstalled, but it is still stuck and will not start.

If you delete .atom/storage/application.json, it will not open any tabs. If you open Atom with a specific target, none of the tabs you had open before will be reopened. For a more thorough understanding of Atom’s startup logic, see this FAQ post:

If that doesn’t fix things, try opening Atom from the command line with atom --safe.

Had the same issue on Windows.
I had to delete contents of:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Atom
you can also open the folder with windows+r %appdata%\Atom
