Atom 1.6.2 Won’t Update or Load packages on Windows 10

I have this issue
with Atom 1.6.2 on Windows 10 where once installed it won’t load
any Updates or Featured packages, the below is the given output:

That looks like the JSON response from the Featured Packages list. Have you tried executing the apm outdated command from the terminal?

Yep here is the output:

Package Updates Available (0)
└── (empty)

Ok, so that looks like it is working correctly. Have you tried running Atom in Safe Mode? To launch Safe Mode:

  1. Completely exit all instances of Atom
  2. Launch Atom with the command atom --safe

Actually I just managed to fix it, it was my string key I had in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor so I removed
and re-created at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command
Processor. I’ve noticed a number of other articles regarding this.
