Atom 1.31 doesn't work on Ubuntu 18.10

Hello there,
I have upgraded to Ubuntu 18.10 and now my Atom stopped working. I tried complete reinstall, but it did not work.

Error log looks like this:

11∶28∶57 gnome-software: failed to rescan: Failed to parse /usr/share/applications/atom.desktop.dpkg-new file: cannot process file of type text/plain

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same here. I just upgraded to 18.10 and atom is not working any more. Uninstalled & installed in but no help.

I’m getting a similar error:

 ~  atom
 ~  /usr/bin/atom: line 157: 22616 Segmentation fault (core dumped) nohup "$ATOM_PATH" --executed-from="$(pwd)" --pid=$$ "$@" > "$ATOM_HOME/nohup.out" 2>&1

The latest Atom Beta seems to work properly.

Thanks for the tip, yes, Atom beta works fine for me too. Hopefully stable release will get fixed soon as well.

#6

This was an issue with newer versions of glibc but has been fixed in 1.32 (currently in beta) as people have found. As I mentioned in https://github.com/atom/atom/issues/18292#issuecomment-431925620, we can’t promise a specific date where 1.32 will become stable, it should be happening soon.
