Any package to cycle through filename extensions via shortcut?

I wonder if anyone has implemented this idea… Let’s say I have two files in one directory: Foo.aaa, Foo.bbb, and Foo.bbb is opened in the current buffer.

Next I hit F4 which triggers the hypothetical command magic_package:frobnicate — and that opens Foo.aaa.

Now I hit F4 once again — and it switches the current buffer back to Foo.bbb. Once again — Foo.aaa again.

Is there such a thing? All my google searches pull completely irrelevant stuff, so I simply ask humans.

I find your usage of arbitrary names rather than precisely describing the rules of the feature you want to be distracting. Are you saying that you want a command that switches between files with the same name and different file extensions?

Yes.

Ok, so I’ve put together a little package doing exactly that.

Works generically for any and whatever extensions you’ve got.
