Ability to truncate long URLs using the Stylesheet

Hi! I’m using Atom to keep my notes in markdown. I often have to keep track of long URLs, and although these strings can be wrapped, I’d like them to be truncated using text-overflow: ellipsis.

Is there a way I could style the CSS classes associated with URLs to do that? I can’t seem to make it work, but then again my coding skills are mediocre to say the least.

If it helps, I’m using Atom 1.23.2 x64 on Windows 10.

Unfortunately, messing with the display of the TextBuffer without changing the contents isn’t a well-supported area of exploration. We have the ability to fold whole lines of code, but you can’t knock off an arbitrary number of characters at the end of the line and have the buffer rebuild its wrap decisions around that.

You might try a URL shortening service like bit.ly.
